Today we discussed the inner planets of our solar system and completed a notes graphic organizer for them. See below for copies of the powerpoint and notes chart. Homework: none
Today students took a quiz on historic models of astronomy. They then completed a graphic organizer about the types of galaxies and received a reading comprehension homework page about galaxies as well.
Homework: finish questions (#1-9) from galaxy page (write answers in complete sentences on back of galaxy notes) Today we watched some video clips about the size and scale of the universe. We then did an astronomer timeline group activity, then created a flipbook about the arrangement of the universe.
Homework: finish flipbook and study for the quiz that will be tomorrow- see post below There will be a quiz on Thursday over the geocentric vs. heliocentric models of the solar system. Be sure to study:
* Geocentric vs. heliocentric models * Big Bang (theory) * Relative sizes in the universe * Astronomers and their contributions Today we read/discussed more about our solar system and galaxy. Groups used labeled index cards to show their answers to questions.
Homework: none Today we created a KWL chart for the Bill Nye episode on Outer Space. We also watched a Brain Pop clip on the solar system.

Homework: none Today we created clay models of the geocentric and heliocentric ideas. We also discussed and took notes on how the understandings of astronomy have changed over time.
Homework: none Today we watched a Brain Pop video on accuracy versus precision, then completed a group activity that allowed for the creation and analyzing of student made scenarios using pennies and targets on the floor.
Homework: none Today we watched a couple video clips and discussed historic models of the solar system. Then each student completed a reading comprehension activity to reinforce concepts and allow for data collection on literacy skills.
