Homework: "update your IAN" was on the board ... however, my blog has been fighting me all afternoon so you probably won't see this in time to have it done for tomorrow ... we'll figure it out!
Today we watched a Bill Nye episode on Earth's atmosphere. Our new unit is about Meteorology (the study of the atmosphere). We also started (barely) some notes and we'll finish them tomorrow.
Homework: "update your IAN" was on the board ... however, my blog has been fighting me all afternoon so you probably won't see this in time to have it done for tomorrow ... we'll figure it out! Today we played a review game called risky business and then completed a ticket-out-the-door understanding check to see which students need reteaching, reinforcement, or extension.
Homework: study for test on Friday! Today we got our study guide (on bright yellow paper), completed the study guide, and then went over the answers. Tomorrow we'll play a review game! Yay!
Homework: study bright yellow study guide for test that is now on Friday We realized too late that we had scheduled a social studies, science AND math test all for Thursday. Eek! So science has decided to move our test to Friday this week. Horray! Still study though. ;)
Today we completed a ticket-in-the-door (quick, non-graded understanding check) about the moon phases. Then, we took notes on eclipses, watched some video clips of actual lunar and solar eclipses (look in the "videos" section of this website for more- scroll down to find them as they're listed in order of what we learn), and then completed a solar and lunar eclipses page.
Homework: begin studying for the test that will be on FRIDAY- the board said Thursday- see newer post on date change. The study guide coming tomorrow but you can study your notes for now. Today we listened to a song by Mr. Parr about the moon (click the YouTube video under the picture to watch/listen to it again), then we drew a diagram of the moon phases and worked on the Confused Travel Agent project. Homework: finish Confused Travel Agent project- due Monday Today we completed a quick understanding check, took some notes on the phases of the moon, worked on the seasons lab, and worked on the confused travel agent project.
Homework: work on the confused travel agent project- due Monday Today we had the laptops again so students could complete the webquest, then we had three quick stations examining how the angle of the sun's rays impact temperature on Earth's surface. For anyone who completed both of these with time left in class, they worked on their Confused Travel Agent project.
Homework: work on the Confused Travel Agent project (see yesterday's post for the file with the instructions and rubric) Today we watched a couple video clips about how the tilt of the earth causes the seasons, and what it's like at the South Pole just after the autumnal equinox. I then explained the Confused Travel Agent project, and gave the rest of class to work on the webquest. I am so sorry to those of you who struggled with technology trying to access the webquest at home last night. I will have the laptops again tomorrow so we can finish it in class. Homework: begin working on the Confused Travel Agent project (due Monday)- see below for the file if you cannot find yours (I have extras on my desk too)
