Homework: work on the study guide so you can check your answers tomorrow
TEST HAS BEEN MOVED TO TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today we worked on a fossil dig experience using plaster of Paris "geologic columns" I created with some mini fossils and one big fossil (plus some large rocks). Tomorrow students will complete the lab sheet then finish the study guide (and check answers if it's complete).
Homework: work on the study guide so you can check your answers tomorrow TEST HAS BEEN MOVED TO TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Link for interactive notes: https://www.learner.org/series/interactive-dynamic-earth
Today we were in the computer lab and students took guided notes for our next topic using an interactive. Extra time was given for working on the blue study guide packet, and if students completed it they were allowed to check their answers using my key. Homework: study for unit 5 test that will be Friday- see yesterday's post for a quizlet link to help with studying Today was an eCyberMission workday. I'm so excited with everyone's progress! Data collection here we come!
Homework: be working on your blue study guide you got last Friday- test this Friday 1/24 CLICK HERE FOR A QUIZLET FOR UNIT 5 Today we watched a Brain Pop video on plate tectonics, then passed out papers and updated the IANs. At the end of class students took a vocabulary quiz and then got the study guide for the Unit 5 test that will be on Friday next week (1/24).
Homework: bring whatever supplies you need for your eCyberMission project on Tuesday Today we went over some assignments from this unit, then completed a lab about half-life- using Twizzlers!
Homework: radioactive dating of rocks page, AND study for vocabulary quiz tomorrow * Vocab words to understand: crust, lithosphere, asthenosphere, mantle, outer core, inner core, geologic time, fossil, index fossil, absolute dating, relative dating, catastrophism, uniformitarianism, Pangaea, continental drift ** We will go over the homework from last night tomorrow in class- there were many people confused about it, so just hold onto it and we'll discuss tomorrow :) No homework tonight!
Activity for after survey: https://ucmp.berkeley.edu/education/explorations/tours/fossil/5to8/Intro.html Game for after survey: https://www.amnh.org/ology/features/layersoftime/game.php Today was an eCyberMission workday. We need to start collecting data next week- some of you have things you need to do/make/bring before we can do that … so get to it if that's you! Not sure? Come see me. :)
Homework: Finding the Relative Age of Rocks worksheet Today we reviewed and completed a ticket-in-the-door assessment to see if everyone is understanding what we've been talking about. Then, students began working on a fossil and mountain chain evidence continental drift activity.
Homework: 1. Have watched Bill Nye: Earth's Crust by tomorrow! 2. Finish the fossil and mountain chain evidence continental drift activity- INCLUDING THE QUESTIONS ON THE FRONT AND BACK! Today we continued talking about the layers of the earth, including the lithosphere (Lithosphere = pLate tectonics- very hard and bottom part of the crust) and the asthenosphere (squishy! and under the lithosphere). Students drew and labeled with descriptions each part of the Earth's layers.
Homework: 1. Finish Earth's layers diagram (due tomorrow) 2. Study notes- wink, wink! (do it tonight- maybe 10 minutes?) 3. Watch Bill Nye: Earth's crust (due Friday) |
